I have been avoiding cleaning up Jaslin's bedroom for the longest time. There are toys & clothes all over her floor & she still has a toddler bed with a crib mattress that she never sleeps in because (1) it's a crib mattress & (2) there are clothes all over it. She has been sleeping with me for the last year or so. It's sad to say but it has ended up being somewhat of a storage room for her old stuff instead of a place to sleep & play. I just haven't been able to motivate myself enough to clean it. She has been begging me to clean up her room for the longest time & every time I pick her up from her dad's house, she asks me if I've cleaned it, each time I would have to tell her no :( I have been waiting for my tax return so I could buy her a new bed but I needed to get rid of all her old stuff first.
So I FINALLY got my tax return not too long ago & last weekend I told my good friend Charlene to get her shopping shoes on because we are going to IKEA to buy all new stuff for Jaslin's room. I was SO excited because I knew how excited Jaslin was going to be when she sees what we did to her room. So away we went to IKEA!! We had so much fun picking out stuff & looking at all the cute things there. I ended up getting a black daybed (her favorite color), a purple Tinkerbell bedspread, a princess net looking thing that drapes around the bed, an organizer for her toys & clothes, a hamper, pink rug, & a black end table. Oh yeah, since she LOVES Spiderman.....a Spiderman poster for her wall!! She is both such a tomboy & a princess both!
So when she came home last Sunday night, she opened her bedroom door....
The first 3 words out of her mouth was , " OHHH MY GOODNESS!!!!" It was the cutest thing ever! All she could do was look around with her mouth wide open in disbelief & then she plopped on her bed & layed there for a minute still in shock. I then asked her if she wanted to sleep in her new room tonight & she did not hesitate to say YES!! It was ALL worth it, just seeing her face & her reaction was priceless. She has been sleeping in her own room now for almost a whole week!! YAHOOO!!! She has been a lot calmer & much more mellow. I know it seems a bit strange, but her attitude has really turned around for the better. She is not so bratty & she minds better, she is so much more fun to be around. I can't believe the difference in her. It's truly night & day! She loves her new room!!
